Tour of the Val Colla with ascent to Monte Bar

From the Capanna Monte Bar all the way to Corticiasca, gravel roads and panoramic asphalt roads alternate; from there to Bogno you ride along the cantonal road passing through characteristic valley villages. From Bogno a gravel road climbs to the Passo del San Lucio, on the border between Switzerland and Italy with views over both sides. A panoramic gravel road and singletrails lead to Pairolo. A further gravel road winds through the forest towards the panoramic Roveraccio, from where you continue to Cadro passing through several villages; from Cadro you climb again on a steep gravel road up to the 1,228 m of the Capanna Alpe Bolla. From Tesserete begins one of the most classic and popular routes for cycling enthusiasts: you pedal up to the welcoming Capanna Monte Bar, covering around 1,000 metres of altitude gain on a route that is, except for the last kilometre, on asphalt. Refreshed by the hospitality and the matchless panorama, you set off towards the Val Colla, riding on the gravel track between the Alpe Rompiago and Corticiasca (south of the Alpe Musgatina you will find a viewpoint marked by a group of intriguing rocks). The entire valley is ridden down to Bogno along the cantonal road. The Bogno–Piandera stretch follows a gravel road through the forest. At the Madonna d’Arla you climb Monte Roveraccio, where you might encounter grazing Highland cattle — a 360° viewpoint. From the Madonna d’Arla to Sonvico on gravel road, continuing to the final destination of the stage at Cadro–Lugano.
